Thinking about getting my first bike?
Posted by Chloe AshtonDec 12
I’ve always liked motorcycles and am thinking about getting one. I did have a moped when I was a teen. And yes, I know you can’t compare a moped with a motorcycle–but I did like the feeling of cruising around on two wheels, wind-in-the hair type thing.
I’d probably be looking to get a smaller cruiser like a Kawasaki Vulcan or Honda Rebel. Something suited for a woman. I’m 5′8 so I’m fairly tall, but I don’t want a real heavy bike. I have to drive 30 highway miles a day for work. I would like to have a motorcycle to commute. So I do need something with enough cc’s to comfortably ride around 65 mph.
I’m also trying to see if I can afford it. I realize it varies by company and area–but what’s insurance for a motorcycle? I’ve been looking at quotes, I’m just interested in your rates to compare. How has the upkeep maintenance costs been for your bike? I’ll be trading in my car sometime next spring/summer. Whether or not I get a motorcycle may affect my car choice. If I’m riding a motorcycle to work most of the time I might end up picking a car that’s not as fuel efficient–like a V-6 Ford Mustang or get a truck, haha.
Thanks for your advice!
