Renter’s home insurance policies offer two kinds of coverage – the replacement cost coverage (RCC) or actual cash value (ACV). Policies that offer ACV coverage only pay an amount that is equal to the insured object’s current replacement cost. But RCC pays an amount that covers the full cost of an object’s replacement. The latter is of course, a more expensive option but it is more beneficial too.
In case someone is injured while inside the insured property, the policy covers the medical expenses and any other that may emerge. This insurance cover helps the tenant to save on large expenses. With such insurance policies, tenants and their guests are offered peace of mind. Renter’s property insurance policies are of help when the property is rendered uninhabitable by damages. In such a case, the policy covers the cost of moving to a new comparably priced rented accommodation, generally limited at 30-40% of the policy value. Each insurance policy provider has its own sets of specifications and these must be checked before purchasing a policy.
Such insurance policies, like any other policies, help renters to be prepared for the worst situations that may crop up without notice. Though such policies aren’t a legal compulsion, but they do make it more convenient for the landlord because he or she is not responsible for the safekeeping of the tenant’s belongings.
